Our worth in Father God
The world says you will find your worth in the position or title that you have in society; the car you drive; the house you live; the neighbourhood or even in our looks. In the upside-down Kingdom these attributes are irrelevant – what matters is our knowledge of who we are in Christ.
Jesus states it clearly when He is talking about how we worry, “So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:31) And yet He looks after each sparrow, caring for its every need – and we are worth much more than that common sparrow.
Listen to the Father’s heart for you in Zephaniah 3:17: “He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you but will rejoice over you with singing.” Isn’t it wonderful that he will rejoice over us with singing – you have to be very special for someone to sing over you and yet here the creator of the universe sings over you.
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” Isaiah 49:15. The enemy may say “You are worthless, God has abandoned you” but here we see it is a lie. Yes, we may go through seasons of dryness, but even in that wilderness time, Father is there with you covering and nurturing you.
When we understand our true worth, a natural response is to come into the blessing of choosing life. “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live” Deuteronomy 30:19
Our position in Christ is one of a son or daughter in His household. This is not a position we ‘earn’ through doing ‘good things’ but because of the sacrifice of Christ for us. “So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:7. You have an eternal inheritance…Know you are worthy!
