Unconditional love
Jesus
Christ, both fully man and fully God, lived in the full assurance of the
Father’s love while He was on the earth.
Father
God loves you with this same measure of love! He is the exact, unblemished,
pure, holy essence of love (1 John 4:8). He loves you with an unconditional
love! His loving-kindness never changes – we may be disobedient or rebellious,
but God is always waiting for our return in humility, not justifying our sin,
but just coming to Him (See the parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15).
We see
this love demonstrated in His sending His Son, Jesus to bear the price for
mankind’s sin in His death on the Cross. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.” – NIV
Our
earthly Fathers cannot match up to the steadfast love of God. Often our
Father’s love was conditional on our behaviour, or was just not there. Some
fathers are absent – both physically and sometimes emotionally. Both are as
hurtful as each other. These pictures of our earthly fathers may make it
difficult to relate to Father God, but our relationship to Father God is not
through a picture of our biological father, but through adoption as His Sons
through our accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
Through
our faith and obedience to Father we are accepted as His friend. John
15:14-15“You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a
servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you
friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to
you.” – NIV
Let us
accept this wonderful gift as His Sons and Daughters……..
